Card for Teacher

My son Sam is having the best week of school with his new 5th grade teacher!  I wanted to make her a card to let her know how much Sam is enjoying her as a teacher and to thank her for getting the school year off to a great start.  I have seen this wise old owl version of the owl punch around blog land and decided it would be the perfect thing for her card.  I also used the Monday Mojo sketch 155.

Recipe: stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes(greeting)

Ink: Chocolate Chip

Paper:  Play Date designer paper, Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip. So Saffron, Whisper White, Basic Black, Real Red, More Mustard

Other:  Owl punch, tiny tag punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, 2 3/8" circle punch, paper piercer, retired Stampin' Up! ribbon, linen thread, stampin' dimensionals

Hippo Hooray!

I felt like making a card with a sketch.  I found this simple sketch on 2 Sketches 4 You and gave it a go.  I dusted off a set I haven't touched in ages, Pun Fun, and used some of the Tropical Party designer paper from the Summer mini.  This paper is only available through August 31 so hurry on over to my online ordering website to get some of your own!

My house in in a shambles.  We are making some bold changes in the wall colors and I'm loving the look of it!  I'm going to be adding some of the Stampin' Up! Decor'Elements to spruce up the decor after the paint sets.  The kitchen is painted Terracotta orange and the entry way and family room is kind of a Soft Suede.  They look great together!

Fox box and card

I'm using the fox box from my critter's class last week for my son Nick's friend's birthday gift.  We will be giving him money so the money will be placed inside the fox box surrounded by starburst candy.  I made a quick little matching 3x3 card to go with it.  I used the Fox and Friends stamp set that was in the Occasions mini catalog. This set is no longer available but I'm hoping it makes it into the new big catalog coming out July 1. I ok'd the box with Nick.  Had to make sure this was going to be cool enough for a 12 year old boy.  He was cool with it.  :)

Accessories:  Fancy Favor Sizzix box, Top note Sizzix die, 1" circle punch, 3/4" circle punch, Scallop Oval sizzix die, uniball white gel pen, 1 1/4" square punch

Birthday Boy and new May Stampin' Up! promotion!

Today we are going to my Great Nephew's 1st birthday party.  He's great as in he's the son of my niece(he's great in the other way too.  ;) ) It's hard for me to believe I'm a great aunt several times over.  Makes me feel old.  Several of my siblings and one on my husband's side are becoming grandparents.  We are a long way off from that(I hope!) .  Anywhoo, I wanted to make Landon a personalized 1st birthday card that wasn't too girly looking.  I reached for the giant cupcake from the Birthday thanks stamp.  There are words on the inside of the cupcake but I just masked those off.  I stamped the top of the cupcake on some designer paper from the Island Oasis designer paper pack that's in the new Summer mini catalog.  The Summer mini catalog is effective starting today!  I also used a new textured embossing folder from the Summer mini called, Square Lattice and letters from the new alphabet in the mini called, Rough Type.  Definitely get this one in the clear mount stamps.  It makes life easier! Now to go along with the card I made and Owl gift box to hold a gift card.  Landon's going to be getting so many presents today that I thought I would get him a gift card so his parents could buy him something that he truly needs.  I have said this before, but I don't love giving gift cards there isn't much imagination or thought that goes into them.  That's why I always like to give the gift card in a clever way.  I was inspired by my Critter's class that I taught last night when I made this owl gift bag this morning.  I love a matching ensemble!

April Bluebird

Happy April Fool's day!  Have you been fooled yet?  My daughter has a history of fooling me.  I don't particularly like it.  Last year she tied a rubber band around the sprayer in our kitchen sink so that when I turned it on I would get soaked.  Mission accomplished.  She put a little post-it note on the bottom of the mouse so it wouldn't work.  Annoying.  I woke up really early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so I got up only to encounter a lifesize cardboard Edward standing just outside my doorway.  I jumped 10 feet when I saw him standing there in the dark right next to my cat right outside my door.  I was not amused.  I hope that's all that is in store for me today. 

Well I'm not going to prank you today!  I have a card!  I am loving the birds other stampers are making with the bird punch from Stampin' Up!'s occasion mini catalog.  I got the idea for my bird from Lynn of Stamp-n-Design.  She is creating some amazing birds with this punch!  I wanted to create a little scene for my bird so I die cut the oval scallop in Not Quite Navy and the inner oval in Bashful Blue.  I then put a small piece of Old Olive through the die for the grass. I cut the blades with my scissors and sponged the grass with Always Artichoke ink.  I sponged around the circle scallop punch with Whisper White craft ink on the Bashful Blue cardstock to make clouds.

Ink:  Always Artichoke, Brocade Blue, Craft White, Not Quite Navy

Paper:  Bella Bleu designer paper, Very Vanilla, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive, Brocade Blue, Close to Cocoa

Other:  Word Window punch, Neutrals button, linen thread, Sizzix Scallop Oval die, Bird punch, Vanilla taffeta ribbon, stamping sponge.

I'm enjoying spring break this week with my kids. It's going so fast!  We've had nice weather and they are getting along for the most part.  :)

Bunny Bag

I ran across a cute bunny treat bag on Rosemary's blog last year.  Since it's coming up to Easter again I thought it was time to finally try this myself.  I tweaked mine a little bit.  I'm calling this a CAT(Copy and Tweak).  Maybe I've just coined a new phrase.  We made this in stamp club last night and it was a hit!

This is made with Stampin' Up!'s Bag with Scallops Sizzix die and punches.

Recipe: 

Paper:  Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Regal Rose, Basic Black, dp from the Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin kit(gotta use up every last scrap of this delish kit!)

Punches: Wide Oval(tummy), Large Oval(ears), small oval(inside of ears, arms, and feet, 3/4" circle punch(eyes), 1/2" circle punch(eyes and nose), 1/4" circle punch(toes on feet)

Other:  Stampin' Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, mini glue dots, Bag with scallops Sizzix die, Uniball white gel pen

Floating in my Head

I had this card floating around in my head for about a week.  I finally had time to take the idea and make it yesterday.  I was really pleased with the results!  This card is inspired by this card from LeeAnn. For some reason I immediately thought of this owl.

Just because Valentine's day is over doesn't mean I'm going to stop using this stamp set.  No siree!

Stinky Sweet Valentine box

Hey there!  Long time no chat.  I've just been busy with my family.  I haven't made it into my stamp room much in the last week either.  I want to share with you today a Valentine treat box I made as a gift to those who came to my Open House in January.  I got the idea for the punch art skunk from Mercedes here.

The little treat box is a Stampin' Up! exlusiveSizzix die, Bitty box and envelope.  What's cool about this die is that the envelopes fit inside the box!  But I filled the box with cinnamon candies.

The skunk is made with punch art.  Here is what I used:

punches:  Ornament punch(head), small oval punch, 1/2" circle punch, Wide oval punch, large oval punch, heart to heart punch

Love Bandit

This is my fave stamp set from the Occasions mini catalog, Love Bandit.  So stinkin' cute!  This is actually a window card(kinda hard to tell), made with the movers and shapers Sizzix die.  I also used Vintage Labels, a Sale-a-bration free product.

Ink:  Basic Black, Versamarker(for blending), and Real Red Stampin' write marker
