Cupcake Elephant

I had this idea of having this elephant from the new stamp set, Animal Stories, balancing a cupcake on his trunk.  I don't think I'm too original there but I do love the way this turned out!  This is my third and final swap for a WOW card swap I am in.  I can't wait to see what swaps I get back!  There's a lot of putzy elements on this card.  I can't believe I made 11 of them!  I did and I lived to tell the tale.  The elephant ear and leg are stamped twice, cut out and popped up on stampin' dimensionals.  The cupcake is stamped, colored, cut out, and popped up on a stampin' dimensional.  The party hat is stamped, colored, cut out, and popped up on stampin' dimensionals.  The scallop background is done by punching out 6 of the scallop squares and stacking them side by side to give a bigger mat.

Giraffe swap card and stamp-a-ma-jig background

I finished up my Wow swaps for a swap group I joined on SCS.  My final WOW card is this giraffe card.

Recipe:

Ink:  Crushed Curry, Dusty Durango, Basic Black
Paper:  Basic Black, Whisper White, Custy Durango, Tall Tales designer paper
Other:  Dusty Durango polka dot ribbon, small oval punch, large oval punch, modern label punch, googlie eye, crystal effects, eyelet border punch, stampin' dimensionals, dusty durango stampin' write marker, stamp-a-ma-jig

When using the Circle Circus stamp set as a background I discovered that one of the open ring stamps in the set fit around this other stamp in the set.  I stamped my circles in crushed curry and dusty durango and stamped over them in black with the open ring stamp using my stamp-a-ma-jig.  It really jazzes it up!

Here are the steps to this background.  It's a little putzy but worth it!

Recipe Challenge#46

It's time for this week's Recipe challenge!  I came up with this week's challenge.  The projects had to include the following:

-Stitching, real or faux
-rub-ons
-a winged thing(bird, butterfly, fairy, etc.)

I just received this Love Owlways stamp set for FREE for my Sale-a-bration sales.  It's such a cute set and because owls are winged things it worked for this challenge!  The words on the chocolate band are rub-ons from the Cheery Chat rub-ons set and the stitching is going around the polka dot chocolate designer paper.  Don't look too closely at my stitching.  This is why I only got red ribbons for sewing in 4H.  i never was much of a seamstress. lol!  I had the Sizzix flower laying around in my craft room so I attached that with a sizzix button and that was that!

I had my Big Shot VIP party on Sunday.  We made 3 fun Big shot projects.  I'll post those later this week.  i can't get enough of my Big Shot!

Stitched Cupcake

This was one of the cards for stamp club this month.  The stamp is from the Level 3 hostess stamp bundle, Hand Drawn Bundle.  I was able to purchase this bundle before the catalog came out.  It was a must have for me with the cupcakes!  This bundle comes with a stamp set of 4, coordinating designer paper and coordinating rub-ons.  The designer paper on this card is from the bundle too. 

This has become a go to favorite layout of mine.  I like having the two pieces of designer paper separated with some of the cardstock peeking through.  It works great with stitching!

Ink:  Jet Black stazon, Baja Breeze
Paper:  Hand drawn bundle dp, Chocolate Chip, watercolor paper
Other:  Chocolate Chip watercolor wonder crayon, aquapainter, 1 3/8" circle punch, circle scallop punch, chit chat rub-ons, 2way glue pen, dazzling diamonds glitter, stampin' dimensionals.

Been busy again....

I have been mass producing again this week.  I made 16 thank you cards from my daughter's friends party, 8 birthday invitations for Sam's upcoming birthday and 8 thank you's for this birthday party.

I used some designer paper and ribbon in my stash and the image from Crazy for Cupcakes.

I kept Sam's birthday invitations very simple.  I used some designer paper from a simply scrappin' kit and the Party Hearty stamp set.

I decided to be proactive and make the thank you's for Sam's party too.  I used the same Simply Scrappin' kit and the Party Hearty set for the thank you's as well.

They are pretty simple but that's best when you are mass producing.

Nicholas' birthday is in March too.  He wants a rockstar themed party.  I'll have to start on those soon cuz his birthday is two weeks after Sam's.  It's party central around here in February and March!

Recipe challenge#34

This week's recipe challenge for Tamara's sketch blog was to use ricrac or ribbon, die cut, brads.

I used my new Sizzix cupcake die for the die cut part of the challenge.  Ooh, it's a little slice of heaven!  I used textured chocolate chip cardstock and patterned paper from my stash for the top.  The candles and flower are all part of the same sizzix diecut pack.  I have a bunch of ricrac in my stash so I busted a pack open and used it on this card.  The brad is a bright green brad in the middle of the flower that I had in my stash.  This card went to my godchild, Vienna for her 2nd birthday.  I loaded her up with cupcake goodies.  I got to train her in right, ya know?  This is what we gave her.

Inside the giant cupcake is play food with plastic cupcakes and the ingredients to make them.  I was looking for some cupcake clothing to go with it but couldn't find anything I liked.  So my daughter picked out a cute pink and brown shirt for her. 

Here's Vienna and her sister, Elena.  Vienna is the one on the right with the pink glasses.  I think she liked here present!

The birthday party was supposed to be for Vienna and my niece, Claire, who turned 1.  Unfortunately, Claire had pneumonia and a double ear infection so she didn't make it to the party.  This is the card I made for Claire.

The bunny is from a new stamp set from Stampin' Up! called Animal Crackers.  The scallop behind the bunny is from the Sizzix pennants die and I used the new lace edge punch underneath for a pink border.

I had a party last night and one tonight.  I'll post the make-n-takes we did for those tomorrow.  Have a good one!

Cupcake Page Spread

I finally used the big cupcake from Simple Birthday Thanks.  I can't believe it took me so long to ink up this cupcake!  I cased the left side of the page spread from a page I saw on Kimberly's blog. The right side of the page I needed a journaling block and an embellishment so I inked up the cupcake minus the writing inside and then drew journaling lines on the bottom half of the cupcake. The letters were done with my Sizzix Gogo Boots and pink fun foam.  It looks like thickers in real life!

The designer paper is from the Sweet Always Paper pack.  I LOVE this paper!  Probably because it goes so well with cupcakes.  hehehe.

Other:  Sizzix Gogo Boots Alphabet, crystal effects(cherry), red chunky glitter(cherry), paper crimper, scallop edge punch, chocolate chip marker, stampin' dimensionals, the dots are like dew drops but were purchased at Michaels from the floral department-they were like little flat edged marbles you fill vases with.

The photos were from my daughter's 14th birthday party last year.  We are about to come to her 15th birthday so it was time to get this scrapped!  I made her a jumbo cupcake cake for her birthday so this stamp was pretty appropriate!  The colors were wonky in the photos so I had them printed up in black and white.

Recipe Challenge #31

This is my card for this week's Recipe Challenge #31 for Tamara's Recipe design team.  The challenge this week was to use 3 strips of paper, distressed edges and a tag.

The striped paper is cut in 3 strips and spaced evenly on the tangerine tango cardstock base.  The basic black cardstock backing the main image is distressed with my distressing tool.  The tag is dangling from the ribbon.  It's the word window punch with the words "party hearty" stamped on it.    I used the Party hearty stamp set for all of the stamped images.  Check out what the rest of the design team did here.

Matthew's birthday

I made up this quick card for my nephew Matthew's birthday.  He is 11 today.  We celebrated on Sunday with a family birthday party.  He's at that difficult age where he's not really in to toys, not really into clothes so what do you get him?  Well, we mostly sat around and watched him open cards with money. 

I wanted to make a masculine card for him because I don't think he's really into cute boy cards anymore.  I won some Prestwick dp somewhere and it definitely has a masculine look so I built my card around the colors in the dp.  The colors are Basic Grey for the card base, Night of Navy and Garden green for the layers.  The "Birthdays are awesome!  So are you!" is from the chit chat rub-ons.  I have been using these a lot!

I picked up a few more Christmas presents yesterday.  I'm getting closer to being done.  I mostly have my dh(who is always difficult), and gift cards/money left for presents.   How about you?  How is your holiday shopping coming?
