Dashing Dasher

Can you stand another Dasher card?  I hope so cuz I'm not putting this stamp down for a very long time!  I cased this card from Amy.  I changed the colors, papers, and a few of the details.  We made this at stamp club this month.

Ink:  Chocolate chip, Old Olive, Real Red

Paper:  Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Real Red, Whisper White, Garden Green, Merry Moments designer paper

More Dasher

When I get on a kick with a stamp set I can't stop using it.  That's the case with this Dasher stamp.  I can't get enough of it!  I used a sketch from the Mojo Monday blog. 

A sketch is just a starting point so I tweaked it a bit to make it work for me.  The sketch was for a square card but I made mine a standard card size and moved around some of the elements. Here's my card:

Halloween Downer

I can't believe Halloween is over!  We hosted about 20 teenagers here for a Halloween party for my daughter, Rebecca.  Rebecca and her two best friends were busy making halloween appetizers all day on Saturday getting ready for their party.  They had a fun party and no mishaps. I call that good!

The Halloween bummer was that my middle one, Nicholas, has the flu so he couldn't go trick-or-treating.  After the initial disappointment he took it well and made the best of it.  My husband, Doug, bought him a huge bag of candy of his own.  He dumped it into a pillowcase just like he had gone trick-or-treating and then he traded candy with his little brother, Sam, after Sam got back from trick-or-treating.  That's one of Nick's favorite Halloween traditions.  He also sat in his skeleton costume slumped in a chair inside the door so that people thought he was a dummy.  Then he would suddenly move - scaring the people.  He took delight in that!  Here he is slumped in the chair.

 

And this is Nick when he "woke up" to scare people.

Now that Halloween is over I have a wedding card to share with you.  Yes, a wedding card.  One of my downline, Stephanie, got married in October.  So I made this card for her using the Best Wishes and More stamp set.

Polar Bear on Ice

This is another card we are making at my October parties.  It is a case from this card by stamperdoc.  I used the scallop circles#2 Sizzix die and a 3" circle for the focal image.  The colors all come from the designer paper, Holiday Lounge.  Such a fun and funky collection of papers!  The card base is Sahara Sand. The bear is stamped in Taken with Teal and then cut out.  The ice is stamped on the whisper white 3" circle with Basic Gray ink and the cup of cocoa is stamped in Close to Cocoa ink. It's easy to line up the bear so that he's holding the cocoa since he's cut out.  The scallop is cut in Taken with Teal cardstock and the Holiday Lounge paper is backed with some Ruby Red.  It's finished off with some Soft Suede polka dot ribbon.  The stamp set is Cold and Cuddly from the Holiday Mini catalog.

I recently did a party for a good friend(hi Pam!) who isn't really into Halloween(gasp!) so we made a Thanksgiving card instead.  The pumpkin is created using punch art.  Punches used were the wide oval punch, word window punch(cut at a slant for the stem), and the 5 petal flower punch that was folded over the pumpkin.  A little sponging around the pumpkins helps to warm it up a bit.

Ink:  Soft Suede, Dusty Durango(for sponging)

Paper:  Soft Suede, Old Olive, Dusty Durango, Naturals, Close to Cocoa, Soft Suede monochromatic designer paper,

Other:  Wide oval punch, word window punch, 5 petal flower punch, large oval punch, scallop oval punch, top note die, horizontal slot punch, dusty durango polka dot ribbon, stampin' dimensionals

Oh the things you can make.....

with the ornament punch!  My upline, Karen, had a meeting last month and one of the demonstration tables was the wonderful things you can make with the ornament punch by Carol Nordquist.  Here are some of the ideas she shared.  I converted the basic ideas into cards of my own design. 

Don't you love the fishes?  Just stamp the ornament from Delightful Decorations and punch out with the ornament punch.  Turn the ornament on it's side and back it with the 5 petal flower punch.  And the 5 petal flower punch is on sale for only $10.99 through October 11!  The water is the negative from the Swirls sizzix die.

The leaves are made by punching out the leaves and a piece of whisper white cardstock out of the ornament punch and simply cutting off the top part of the ornament.  Then draw in the lines of the leaves with a stylus and a foam mat.  Then take your sponge daubers and dip them in ink and then on the back of the cardstock vellum.  Attach to the whisper white cardstock behind it to make the colors show up better.

You can create a vase by punching out the ornament up to this point in the cardstock.  Just leave off the point.  I brayered the dusty durango cardstock with dusty durango ink to give it the look of a terracotta pot.  So easy!

 
How about some acorns!  I embossed the chocolate chip cardstock with the Perfect Details Sizzix plate and then punched out a curve with my wide oval punch.  Next place your ornament punch upside down in the cardstock and punch out just the top.  Then punch out your creamy caramel cardstock with the ornament punch and sponge it with some close to cocoa ink.  Adhere the two pieces together and you're done!

Okay, this guy was a lot of work but so worth it in the end!  I CASE"d him fromthecountryrose on SCS.
 Do you see the ornament punch on him?  I ran the Build-a-Bear through the Big shot in blush blossom cardstock and then placed the ornament head over the bear head for the elf.  So fun!

Halloween Pull Card

I'm back at it with the Sweet Treat Centers.  I just have so much fun with these!  This is a card where you make a tag that lifts up to reveal the treats.  That way you don't have to dismantle your beautiful card to get to the candy!  There is a tutorial for this on Mike's blog. He calls it a Re-Treat.  Teehee!

The background stamp on the front of the card is from Circle Circus.  That's another stamp set I can't stop using.  The inside of the card is wheeled with the Haunting HIll jumbo wheel from the Holiday mini and the ghost is from Batty From You, one of my long time faves.

We have a soccer filled weekend.  We have nice sunny skies, but not too hot.  Great soccer weather!  What's on your agenda for the weekend?

Magical

I saw this wonderful tutorial on JanTink's blog for the Marvelous Magical Marquee card.  How fun!  This is my Halloween version of it.  We made this in my stamp clubs in September.  We discovered that the opening flaps work much better if you use cardstock instead of designer paper.  Such a fun concept for a card!

Up Up and Away!

Do you remember this song?  Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon?  It's by the Fifth Dimension.  That's what this balloon reminds me of.  When I was growing up I shared a room with my four sisters.  They are all 8-12 years older than me and I heard all of their music they played on the record player.  I came to associate a group or singer with each sister.  The Fifth Dimension was my sister, Geri's favorite group so I became quite familiar with all of their songs.
