Gift card holder

I have another gift card holder for you.  I'm always looking for clever new gift card holder ideas and I received this cute birthday one in a swap from Tammy Nowatzki. 

I love the way she made a pocket out of the Sizzix square scallop die.  I decided to make a version for Christmas.  I adapted my pocket a little bit.  I cut my square scallop die and scored it at 3 scallops up from the bottom.  I adhered the sides with mono multi glue and that created by pocket. I put a piece of neutrals white designer paper inside the holder to give it a subtle contrast.

The stocking is made with the Gift Givers stamp set from the Holiday mini.  It is punched out with the stocking punch. Another fun builder punch Stampin' Up! has come up with! The candy is made from the Sweets for the Sweet stamp set.

Pop Up Gift card class

I have an upcoming class for popup gift card holders.  I have a lot of people I give gift cards to over the holidays.  I don't like the fact that I didn't put much thought into giving the gift of a gift card so I like to present them in a fun way.  This pop up gift card holder fits the bill!

Kim Score came up with this fun mechanism.  I just designed the card fronts.  I cased some ideas I found online and I'm very happy with how these came out!  In this class you will be making 9 pop up gift card holders and will have the makings of 10+ gift tags too.

Thanksgiving Weekend

I had a fabulous 4 day Thanksgiving weekend!  It was filled with all of the things I love: Family, Food, Shopping, Stamping, and Movies.  It couldn't have been better! We spent Thanksgiving at my brother-in-law's house just 5 minutes away.  My nephew was home from the Marines. Here's a picture of him in his dress blues with my kids.

My boys are both sporting new short haircuts.

I spent a lot of time in my craft room.  I have some upcoming stamp club projects and a class to share with you later  Right now I'm going to share with you some ideas with the stocking sizzix die in the Holiday mini catalog.

This first  idea I saw at the Stampin' Up! convention last Summer.  You take the #2 Sizzix box die and turn it so the small end is up. Cut off the flaps on that side and sandwich it between two stocking dies.  It makes a cute little gift box!

Here is the stocking die with the top opening folded up to reveal a gift card pocket inside.

You can also make a die with the gift card peeking out the top.  Make some out of felt or fabric.  Make a garland of stockings to hang by the fireplace.  So many fun ideas to do with this die!

Christmas Stocking

There are so many great products in the Holiday mini catalog!  The Stitched Stockings stamp set with it's coordinating punch is one of my faves.  Then team it with the new silver glimmer paper and forget about it!

My husband and daughter are off looking at a couple of colleges this week.  We have another 4 scheduled within the next month.  The big college push is on!  This is all new to us so we're navigating the world of college applications, scholarships, etc.  It's a little overwhelming!

So it was just me and the boys last night.  I took them out to dinner at Applebees.  It wasn't the lighthearted, fun dinner I had imagined.  I should have know better.  It was more like referee time between the two.  Trying to keep the peace. Sigh.  Someday I'll miss this, right?

Sparkly Spider Web

I'm enjoying a beatiful fall weekend.  Beautiful temps and colors.  My kids all had fun stuff going on this weekend but unfortunately, we had my daughter into Urgent care where she was diagnosed with strep throat and mono!  Ugh!  Her doctor said she was only the 10th patient in her 26 years of practice that had both at the same time.  So she's been feeling lousy but the antibiotics seem to be kicking in so her throat is finally feeling a little better.  There's nothing you can do for mono.  You just need plenty of rest which is tough to do for a teenager. I"m not sure how she got so run down so early in the school year but we're going to try to concentrate on getting her better and avoiding getting to this point in the future.  No sign of the rest of us getting sick.  If anyone is going to get it, it should be me because i'm handling all of her dishes and food but I'm luckily pretty resistant to this kind of stuff.

Now for some fun stuff!  We made this card in my stamp club last week.  The designer paper is embossed with the spider web embossing folder and then distressed with the sanding block so the web stands out more.  Then you coat the whole thing with hairspray. While it's wet you douse it with dazzling diamongs glitter.  Shake off the excess and then spray the whole thing with hair spray again.  Let this dry before adhering it to cardstock.  I recommend using mono multi adhesive to adhere it to your cardstock.

 
The ribbon is the wide basic black ribbon cut in half.  You want the edges to fray.  It adds to the shabby chic look.  The pumpkins are colored in with markers and some dazzling details added for more sparkle.

More Fall Wow Swap Cards

Just a quick post to share more of the swap cards from my Holiday Mini wow swap group I'm in.

First one is by Lisa Putnam.  It's a gatefold card.  I always forget about gate fold cards but love the results!  It looks like she did the rock-n-roll technique on the tree and added some glitter.  So pretty!

 

 
Next up is a Halloween card by Lori Mueller.  There are so many fun touches on this card that a picture just does not do justice too!  Love the ribbon treatment, the spider web is embossed on vellum cardstock and overlaid on the halloween dp, there are tiny scallops peeking out from the greeting which is embossed and you gotta love that tiny pleated circle!

The third card had no name on it.  what a shame!  The main image is run through the square lattice die for some wonderful texture.  There looks to be some kind of shimmer added to the leaves and the embossed frame is peeking out behind the main panel and greeting.

Fall Wow Swaps

Happy last day of September.  Can you believe it?! Time surely does fly.

I was in a WOW swap for the Holiday mini recently and I want to share some of those with you. 

This first card is by Glenda Calkins.  Isn't it gorgeous!  It's all sparkly and pretty in real life.

 

Next up is a card by Jenn Gulch.  She sewed our fabric together for a quilted look under the popped up square frame.  Talented lady!

 
And the last card today is by Gail O'Neill.  The leaves are embossed and the frame is the top note die - turned and die cut again!

Cute and Spooky!

I'm back with more Halloween to share.  I have started decorating for Halloween but this weekend I'm going to bring it all out.  I'm hosting my bunko group in October and my son, Nick, wants to have a Halloween party so I have lots of excuses to decorate.....not that I need them!

 

I can't get enough of Spooky bingo bits.  It's my go to stamp set this year!  I teamed it with the Halloween designer paper from the Holiday mini, Pick your Poison.

The stockings were hung

 I'm taking a little break from Halloween to bring you Christmas.  Can you believe it?  But really, if you are going to make Christmas cards you have to plan ahead.  This darling new set, called stitched stockings has a coordinating punch.  It even punches out separate pieces for the top trim, heel and toe!  It's easy to bling it up with the new silver glimmer paper.  Love it!
